Who are the great women who have helped shape Surrey’s history?

Egham Museum is part of the Surrey Museums Partnership, led by Surrey County Council.

Each year in April, the Surrey Museums Partnership runs ‘Surrey Museums Month’, on a different theme.  This year the theme is ‘Surrey Super Women’.  We are delighted to be part of this year’s campaign and was at the launch event held at The Lightbox in Woking.  We heard from different museums across the county sharing stories about their Super Women.  We particularly enjoyed Chertsey Museum‘s Curator, Emma Warren, tell stories of Runnymede’s Regal Royals, Literary Lovelies and Colourful Characters!

Surrey Super Women i-spy challenge

From 1st April to 1st September 2017, 16 of Surrey’s museums and galleries will be taking part in an i-spy challenge (including Egham Museum).

All you have to do is visit the different museums in Surrey to find each object in the trail. The family who has spotted the most objects will win a prize!

HOW TO TAKE PART in 5 EASY STEPS…

Start by picking up a Surrey Museums Month leaflet from one of Surrey’s museums or galleries (including Egham Museum)

1) Visit a museum on the i-spy page
2) Spot the object from the photograph
3) Write where it was hidden in the collections…or an interesting fact
4) Get a sticker from a member of museum staff
5) Move on to the next museum.

Error: Please note that number 17 on the i-spy page should say 19 – the object is at Guildford MUSEUM, not Guildford Cathedral.

Send in your leaflet or a photocopy of your I-spy page BY 8th SEPTEMBER 2017 to:

H. Thomas, Museums Officer, Surrey History Centre, 130 Goldsworth Road, Woking GU21 6ND.

*** REALLY IMPORTANT… PLEASE remember to write your family name and a contact email or phone number so that we can get in touch with you. Thank you. The Surrey Museums Month team will contact you by 30th September! ***
