Behind the Glass: Commemorating Magna Carta
Date: Wednesday 24 February, 2021
Time: 6pm – 7pm
FREE
Behind the Glass is an opportunity to dive deeper into the Egham Museum collection and the stories it holds. Hosted by the Curatorial Team, these events will be livestreamed on Facebook and Youtube and will feature special guests, short films, oral histories and items not on permanent display.
The Magna Carta is still a powerful symbol of liberty and justice today, over 800 years after it was sealed on the banks of the Thames at Runnymede in 1215. Although the precise location of this momentous event is unknown, the area has numerous memorials and artworks dedicated to its legacy.
This event will chart the commemorations of Magna Carta throughout the 20th century, culminating with the 800th anniversary in 2015.
These events are free, but donations are welcomed to support our ongoing work. You can find out more at here.
