Research

We encourage visitors to carry our their own research and invite you to book a visit with us. The Museum hosts a comprehensive collection of research material including the following:

• Printed books of local interest
• Local IGI (International Genealogical Index)
• Copies of the 1881 census index for London, Middlesex, Surrey, Berks, Bucks)
• Copies of the 1891 and 1901 census index for Surrey
• Copies of the 1841 to 1881, and 1901 census for Egham and Thorpe

None of the above material can be borrowed, but can be viewed at the Museum for free to support you in your own research endeavours.  The following material requires booking an appointment with the Curator (curator@eghammuseum.org):

• Photographs and Maps
• Rate books for the Egham area
• Parish registers
• Monument inscriptions
• Copies of the Surrey Herald and Staines & Egham News
